Magic Johnson: ‘Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Is The Greatest College Player Of All-Time’

Magic Johnson has named Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the greatest college basketball player of all time. Johnson made the case for his former teammate -as if Kareem needed it- in days that college basketball has been missed by a lot of people.

This year’s edition of March Madness was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak. Trying to get distracted from the fact the tournament won’t be played this season, several people have started to remember the best players in college history, with some naming Johnson among others.

However, for the Lakers legend, Kareem has no competition when it comes to this honor.

“It’s not a doubt in my mind that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the greatest college player ever! Three National Championships and if freshman had been eligible to play, he would have won four straight,” Magic wrote on Twitter.

It’s really hard to argue with Magic on this matter. Kareem was terrific ever since he was a young player. He led the UCLA Bruins to three straight NCAA championships, winning the MVP award of the tournament on each occasion.

He racked up a lot of accolades during those days, which earned him the right to be drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with the #1 overall pick in 1969. In the NBA, he increased his legend as one of the greatest players in the history of the game. Abdul-Jabbar combined with Magic to win 5 NBA championships with the Lakers, creating one of the best duos in the history of the league.

Kareem finished his career as a 19-time NBA All-Star, 10-time All-NBA First Team selection, winning 6 championships. However, his legend started when he was younger, demonstrating he was going to do big things in the association.

There have been great players at a college level like Ralph Sampson, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and players who have had great runs like Kemba Walker at UConn. Yet, it’s hard to think about a better player in college than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
