Magic Johnson appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night and discussed going on vacation with Michael Jordan and their wives. When Kimmel asked Magic about which one of them would pick up the cheque after dinner, the five-time champion had some jokes.

(Start at 9:50)

“We actually flip a coin now. It’s his coin with both his faces on both sides.”

Magic is still considered the greatest point guard of all time by many, though his status has come under threat with the success Stephen Curry has had over his career. Nonetheless, Magic is among the few definitions of pristine success in the NBA after his career is over, given he recently became the third billionaire NBA player after Jordan and LeBron James

Even though Jordan and Magic were fierce rivals on the court, with Michael’s first championship win coming at Magic and the Lakers’ expense, their friendship seems to have gotten even stronger in the last few decades as retired legends.

Magic Johnson On Vacation With Michael Jordan

Magic discussed his European vacation with Jordan, which saw pictures of them in Italy going viral over the summer, with Kimmel. While he didn’t divulge details of what he and his wife did on vacation with Jordan and his wife, Magic did reflect on never thinking they’d be in a position to do something like this.

“Neither of us thought we’d be in this position to be out there and have yachts, to be able to go out to dinner with our wives, be in Europe, it’s mind-blowing to both of us. We’re having fun with it.”

Their relationship of going from rivals to friends to now having built a relationship that spans almost 40 years is quite incredible. MJ respects Magic, which could be seen when Jordan messaged Stephen A. Smith of his own accord to reiterate Magic’s status as the greatest point guard of all time when Curry’s name was being discussed for that title.

We’ll likely see many long-term friendships like this come out of the friendlier modern era of the NBA, but it’s amazing to see two legends like Magic and Jordan enjoy each other’s company and build such a strong relationship.

Magic Johnson’s Net Worth

As we mentioned, Magic Johnson officially hit billion-dollar status in the last week of October, with Forbes officially classifying him in the billion-dollar club with $1.2 billion to his name

Johnson has built this net worth over 45 years since being drafted into the NBA in 1979. His route to achieving this success has been linked to staying in the field that brought him his success; sports. While Magic isn’t a part of any NBA ownership group, he owns stakes with the Washington Commanders (NFL), Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB), Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA), and LAFC (MLS). These investments went a long way, but Magic also dabbled in other industries to make his fortune.

His namesake company. ‘Magic Johnson Enterprises’ has its fingers across many pies. This includes fast food franchises, movie theaters, healthcare, and real estate. What finally vaulted him into billion-dollar status was his company’s stake in an Iowa-based life insurance provider EquiTrust. Johnson owns a controlling stake in the company and Forbes estimates it makes up the majority of his net worth of $1.2 billion.
