At 11-20 on the season, the Orlando Magic are certainly not in the realm of title contention this season and are obviously way behind a team like the Boston Celtics, who have been the best in the East since November.

But this weekend, in a pair of matchups between the East’s top and bottom teams, it was the Magic who came out on top (both times) to shock the world. First, they beat the Celtics on Friday, with Paolo and Mo Wagner combining for 45 points on the night. Then, they followed it up with another victory over the Celtics on Sunday by holding them to a measly 92 points on just 34% shooting.

After Sunday’s win, some Magic players (Markelle Fultz, Mo Bamba, and Cole Anthony) all tweeted the same thing, calling out former Celtics player Eddie House for some comments he made after the C’s lost on Friday.

House, a Celtics loyalist, called the Magic trash and claimed they wouldn’t make the play-in just hours before holding the Cs to 92 points. It’s also worth noting that the Magic are just 3.5 games back from the Raptors for the East’s 10th seed.

“They got 10 wins, they are still garbage. They’re still not a good basketball team. They won’t make the playoffs, they won’t be in the play-in game. The way the game unfolded was, a team came out complement thinking they were head and shoulders better. Yeah, we are head and shoulders better this season but at the same time, there are proud professionals on the other side. And I’m not talking about individually they’re not good players but as a team. As we’re almost to Christmas right, so we’ve had a nice-sized sample to know exactly what you are. That team was 1-11 coming in on the road.”

What’s Wrong With The Boston Celtics?

The Celtics have been dominant for most of this season so far, but they have had some concerning losses recently to suggest that not all is well in Boston. Whether it has to do with injuries, egos, or simply bad luck, the Cs just went winless in two games against one of the league’s worst teams

Still, at 22-9 in the season, they have more than enough breathing room to iron out the kinks. The truth is, when it comes to the Celtics, their core of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown was due for a run like this, and it’s great that their moment had finally arrived.

But if they really want any of this to matter, they’ll have to follow it up in the playoffs, which is obviously a lot easier said than done.
