When the final buzzer sounded in Portland on Friday, the Memphis Grizzlies came out as the losers for the sixth straight game. To date, the Grizzlies are the only winless team in the NBA and after suffering their latest loss to the rebuilding Trail Blazers, there was nowhere for them to hide from the heat.

The Grizzlies looked to be in control of the game at first, but a second-half comeback led by Trail Blazers star Shaedon Sharpe ended their hopes of pulling out a win. In the 115-113 loss, Jaren Jackson Jr. led the way with 30 points and 10 rebounds while Desmond Bane finished as the leading scorer with 33 points on 50% shooting. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Blazers and now all of social media is ganging up to make fun of them.
NBA Fans Troll The Grizzlies For 0-6 Start
It’s rare for a team to go this long without a win, but the Grizzlies are making it look easy. In their first six games, the Grizzlies have lost in all sorts of ways, ranging from late-game collapses to completely one-sided blowouts. Their competitors so far include the Blazers, Jazz, Mavericks, Wizards, and Pelicans. Following their most recent defeat, however, the Grizzlies really started getting noticed for their struggles.
The 0-6 Grizzlies sans Ja Morant are the only winless team in the NBA. The Grizzlies are the first team to start 0-6 since the 2018-19 Cavaliers. It’s the fourth time in Grizzlies history that they started the season 0-6 (1996-97, 2001-02, and 2002-03). @ESPNStatsInfo pic.twitter.com/M7dNe83Oth

Needless to say, this is a historic low point for the Grizzlies. While this level of dysfunction was not expected, some saw signs of trouble coming in due to Ja Morant’s suspension and some of the various injuries that have occurred across the roster.
And people were in their feelings when I said they’re going to be a play-in team this season. Don’t mind me tho and Carry the hell on… https://t.co/6DikhscLLJ

Seeing this team struggle is like entertainment for Lakers fans, who encountered the worst of the Grizzlies last season. After talking trash for months, the Lakers humbled Memphis when it mattered and now fans are using it against them while they struggle to stay afloat.
Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura son’d the Grizzlies and they haven’t won a single game since 😭 pic.twitter.com/TUGkeSudMp

With another game against the Trail Blazers on Sunday, the Grizzlies will get another crack to beat this team and get back on the right side of the win column. But even if they do pull out a victory this weekend, they need to ask some serious questions about the trajectory of the season.
What’s Wrong With The Grizzlies?
While it’s easy to pin the blame on Ja Morant’s absence, the problems can be traced back to last season when the Grizzlies struggled down the stretch leading up to the playoffs. The loss of Steven Adams exposed their rotation in the front court and the injury to Brandon Clarke was the final blow for their interior depth. Additionally, the loss of Tyus Jones in free agency was a pretty significant blow that has made a big difference for them.
This season, the Grizzlies are also without Steven Adams again — only now, they no longer have the heroics of Ja Morant to lean back on. As good as Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. are, neither of them are as good or as talented as Morant, and he’s still set to miss at least a few more weeks. Until he returns, the Grizzlies must find a way to get the offense going and expect Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins to reach deep into his bench in search of a solution. In the meantime, things could get really ugly for the Grizzlies and every loss they take will only put more pressure to get a win and break the streak.
