The Los Angeles Lakers have been struggling this year, and are currently below .500, with a 10-11 record. While they have had LeBron James miss time with injury this year, it definitely seems as though a team that had Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis leading them should have managed to win more games, especially with a relatively easy schedule.

Despite their subpar play through the first quarter of the season, the Los Angeles Lakers still have people who believe in their championship chances. Former DPOY Metta Sandiford-Artest has recently stated that he still has the Los Angeles Lakers winning it all.

I got @Lakers winning it this year.

There is definitely some cause for concern about the Los Angeles Lakers. They have the talent to win games and be a championship team in the future but they have been subpar as a team on the defensive end, and their offense has been predictable at times. We’ve often seen some teams take some time to gel and become the best versions of themselves. Perhaps that is the case here.

With that being said, the Los Angeles Lakers need to start improving quickly, so they can avoid falling into a hole that they can’t climb out of. They recently hit rock bottom after a triple-overtime loss to the Kings, and it’s clear that there is a lot of work ahead for the team. They will have a chance to bounce back from their loss in a matchup against the Pistons. The last Pistons-Lakers matchup notably featured a mid-game fight between LeBron James and Isaiah Stewart, and hopefully, tempers don’t rise like that in the upcoming game.

The Los Angeles Lakers are not in the greatest of positions, but they have the players and the talent to succeed in the future. There’s still a lot of seasons left to play. However, there must be a sense of urgency in correcting their situation, and perhaps we’ll see them go on a run soon enough.
