Michael Cooper Believes That The Winner Of The Los Angeles Lakers – Golden State Warriors Play-In Game Can Win The Championship

The most anticipated event in basketball is the upcoming game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. Whoever wins the matchup gets the 7th seed, while the loser will have a chance at the 8th seed. This is our chance to see Stephen Curry and LeBron James go at one another in a winner takes all game.

It is understandable that many people had the Los Angeles Lakers penciled in as contenders due to the presence of superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They were one of the favorites this season, and no one would be surprised if they won.

On the other hand, the Golden State Warriors have been a good defensive team, yet they aren’t seen as a top-tier contender with Klay Thompson out. Lakers legend Michael Cooper has recently stated that the winner of the play-in game can win the championship. He does mention that the Golden State Warriors have a harder road to winning, but Cooper believes that it is possible.

Whoever wins can win a championship. And I’m not saying that loosely. I think the Warriors have a harder road… if they were to get to the championship they’d have to play Brooklyn or Philly… one of those teams will be more difficult for them to win a championship. But again, any team that comes out of this is I think, going to the Western Conference Finals

This game is clearly high-stakes for both teams. If Cooper is right, then no matter who wins, there will be a new record set for the lowest seed to win an NBA championship. Many fans would love to see either team win it all: people like rooting for the underdogs. Hopefully, we see a good game between the two teams, and with time we’ll see whether Cooper’s prediction comes true.
