Michael Jordan left the Chicago Bulls in 1993, after winning 3 NBA championships, to pursue a career in baseball. That pursuit didn’t work as well as he had hoped, and he felt a desire to return to basketball. His first home game for the Chicago Bulls was an electric atmosphere.

Michael Jordan would walk out into the United Center for the first time in his career, on March 24th, 1995. During his previous tenure with the Bulls, he would play home games at the old Chicago Stadium. As Jordan would walk out to join the Bulls for the first time at a home game, the arena absolutely erupted.

Jordan would go on to have a solid game, getting 21 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. This was only Jordan’s third game back out of retirement, and he was still finding his shape and his game back after almost two years away from the sport.

Michael Jordan Would Find His Motivation That Season

Michael Jordan’s first few games for the Bulls that year came at the tail-end of the season. For Jordan, he used the final stretch of the regular season to get back in basketball shape ahead of the playoffs. During that stretch, he averaged 26.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.

But in the playoffs, MJ and the Bulls would find tough competition, first with the Charlotte Hornets. But then, in the second round, things got tougher, as he would face off against a young Shaquille O’Neal and the Orlando Magic. The Magic upset the Bulls in 7 games and sent them home. The Magic became the only team in the 1990s to beat Jordan and the Bulls in a playoff series.

Jordan used the elimination as fuel during the offseason, getting ready for the next season. He and the Bulls would go on to have the best NBA season at the time, going 72-10, and then winning an NBA championship. Jordan had the perfect season, and would redeem his loss against the Magic in the first round by sweeping them.
