Mikal Bridges Says LeBron James Would Average 90 Points On The ’86 Celtics

2 Min Read

The talents of LeBron James are no mystery to anyone who’s bothered to pay attention. As one of the league’s best players, and the face of basketball worldwide, his legacy is grand and far-reaching.

So much so, in fact, that some of his own colleagues have taken to making some bold claims regarding his potential dominance in previous eras. According to Hornets star Mikal Bridges, King James would be even better in the 80s than he is today. In a pretty wild statement, he claimed that James would average “90” points on the 1986 Celtics team (considered one of the greatest in NBA history).

This was in response to a segment on”The Last Dance,” which featured MJ scoring 63 points on that Celtics squad.

Considering how good and how powerful LeBron is, it’s no surprise that some would hold that opinion. But most of those fans don’t understand how good that Celtics team was. With stars like Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Bill Walton, and Robert Parish, they were deep and very, very talented. They won the Championship that year after finishing with a record of 67-15.

Needless to say, a lot of fans weren’t convinced.

With career averages of 27 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.4 assists, it’s not difficult to give LeBron the benefit of the doubt. In this case, however, it might be a stretch to assume he’d drop 90 points on one of the greatest teams ever assembled.
