Monty Williams And Suns Players Had ‘Private Conversations’ About Team Owner Robert Sarver

With a 14-game win streak, it’s fair to say the Phoenix Suns are in an absolute groove right now. In fact, over the past two seasons, Phoenix has been one of basketball’s best franchises by showing consistency and strength in all aspects of the game.

Their success, however, may be happening in spite of the activities of team owner, Robert Sarver. Earlier this season, the multi-millionaire was connected to claims of racism and sexual harassment, leading many to believe he could be forcibly removed by the NBA office.

The NBA is preparing for a massive story accusing Suns owner Robert Sarver of racism, sexism and sexual harassment in a series of incidents, sources say. With enough evidence to support such claims, there’s a real chance the league would forcibly remove Sarver.

The investigation is still ongoing and nobody knows how long it will last.

But for Monty Williams and the crew, they’re determined not to let the dramatics off the court impact their play or the success of their season.

“They know the door was open for them to come talk to me about anything if they needed to, and we did — there were private conversations. We’ve said wins and losses and nothing will affect our culture. That’s how we approach it. That doesn’t mean we aren’t aware of the allegations and all of that stuff, but we just kept it moving as far as our culture, but we also were aware that there was some serious business being handled, and the league was going to take care of it.”

So far, the Suns have looked better than ever, despite the Sarver situation and the unfortunate way contract talks ended with Deandre Ayton in the summer.

Last season, this same Phoenix team took the Bucks to 6 games in the Finals before losing the next 4. They hope to rectify that this year, no matter what befalls their controversial owner.
