‘Multiple’ Cleveland Cavaliers Members Would Keep Caris LeVert On The Team Over Collin Sexton

The Cleveland Cavaliers have already entered an entertaining offseason. While next summer could be very promising for them, given the potential second return of LeBron James, the Cavs might be very excited about the future. However, one of those pieces expected to help them win might be out when the 2022/23 NBA season starts.

In recent weeks, they offered a three-year, $40 million deal to Collin Sexton, who was believed to be one of their best players for the future. This offer didn’t sit well with Sexton’s camp and the Cavs may risk losing in free agency.

Moreover, it doesn’t look like they will lose sleep over this, one Cleveland reporter recently claimed that the Cavs would prefer to keep Caris LeVert on the squad over Sexton, which explains why they’re not that actively trying to re-sign the young guard.

Via HoopsHype:

“There are multiple people inside the organization that if they have their choice between Caris LeVert and Collin Sexton, they would take Caris over Collin because of the size, because of the length, because of the versatility that he can bring on the defensive end of the floor,” Chris Fedor said on the Zach Lowe podcast. “And they liked what they saw with Caris and Darius together. Obviously, the numbers back that up.”

Sexton has shown interesting things during his time with the team, and his partnership with Darius Garland appeared to be one for the ages in Cleveland. However, now things look a little different, as the 2016 NBA champions are keeping Garland, but could lose Sexton, who has shown flashes of becoming an All-Star.

This is a tough decision for anybody else, but it looks like the Cavaliers have made up their minds and won’t be sad if they end up losing Sexton this offseason.
