Center Karl-Anthony Towns is considered one of the faces of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he is well-known for his 3PT shooting ability. There is no doubt that he has a good case to be the best shooting big man in the league.

Despite his talent, many people have suggested that the team should trade Karl-Anthony Towns. The latest person to suggest that is Kendrick Perkins, who claimed that the center has not been able to make the Timberwolves his franchise, noting that the Timberwolves are Anthony Edwards’ team.

“I believe that it’s time for the Minnesota Timberwolves to move on from Karl-Anthony Towns… That franchise belongs to Anthony Edwards… KAT has had his time & his opportunity to take over this franchise & he hasn’t.”

At this point, the goal for the Minnesota Timberwolves would absolutely be to build around Anthony Edwards. However, Karl-Anthony Towns definitely helps that pursuit. The key reason to trade him would be financial reasons, as his four-year $224 million supermax extension could be a problem under the new CBA.

During the 2022-23 regular season, Karl-Anthony Towns put up 20.8 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 4.8 APG for the Minnesota Timberwolves while shooting 36.6% from 3PT range. He is clearly a top-tier center when healthy, and we’ll see how he does next season..

League Figures Believe Karl-Anthony Towns Could End Up On The New York Knicks

There is no doubt that a number of teams would love to have Karl-Anthony Towns on their roster, as he is a bonafide star. Previously, some league figures speculated that he would end up on the New York Knicks.

“Several NBA sources over the past couple of years have expressed they believe the Knicks will ultimately end up with Karl-Anthony Towns, a CAA client. If so, would the Knicks want to add Towns to complement their top three or send out Randle or Barrett? No one polled expects Brunson to be available, but sourcing was of mixed opinion on what’s next for New York.”

The New York Knicks are a franchise that appreciates stars, and there’s no doubt that Karl-Anthony Towns could help them take the next step as a franchise. We’ll see if he ends up there in the future.
