LeBron James has once again rocked the GOAT conversation after surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. LeBron’s longevity has been something the league has never seen before, and he is rightly getting his flowers from the fans and the media. But there are still those who vocally believe that he cannot be considered the greatest, and they’ve been giving their reasons as to why.

Stephen A. Smith has an opinion on just about every basketball topic one can think of. And while Smith has always given LeBron James the title of No. 2, he has been staunch in his support of Michael Jordan‘s GOAT case. It has been no different this time, with Smith recently claiming that his fellow players don’t fear LeBron James like the players in the 90s feared Michael Jordan

“When you see stuff up close, and when you talk to the players, it’s a different animal. And listen, everybody universally respects LeBron. One of the greatest ever. They feared Jordan, bro. Feared. They were scared. And then when you think about it, throughout LeBron’s tenure, there has always been a debate as to who was his peer.”

This is not entirely a popular take or even truly correct, just ask the Toronto Raptors team from LeBron James’ second Cavaliers stint if he’s scary or not. But this is something that many analysts and fans both believe. Some have an answer to this though, including an NBA fan who clapped back at Smith on Twitter.

NBA Fan Says Kevin Durant Joining The Warriors Is An Example Of Players Fearing LeBron James

The NBA world started the GOAT conversation around LeBron James when the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the 73-9 Golden State Warriors in the Finals in 2016. What followed next is often considered one of the weakest moves in NBA history, when Kevin Durant joined the Warriors team. And as a fan on Twitter put it, it’s an example of players being afraid of LeBron.

“The Warriors recruited KD because they feared LeBron.”

Having Kevin Durant tiled the odds massively in favor of the Warriors, who cantered to the next two NBA championships, denying LeBron James twice in the process. And it does say something that the winningest team in NBA history had to add a Top 5 player in the league just to be certain that they could beat LeBron James. Michael Jordan’s aura was unquestioned, but to say LeBron isn’t feared might not be accurate either.
