The GOAT debate remains a recurrent topic in the NBA, especially now that LeBron James is getting closer to the 2nd spot on the all-time scoring list. He can surpass Karl Malone this season and his recent performances have made a lot for the 4x NBA champion in his chase for the Utah Jazz legend.

He could become the all-time scoring leader next year, and many people think that should grant him the GOAT title over other legends like Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. LeBron has gone off on rivals in recent times, scoring 50+ in the last Lakers’ two wins. Besides that, he’s stayed on the court when his team is clearly defeated, raising some eyebrows in the process.

Recently, an old video of Michael Jordan resurfaced, with His Airness stating he didn’t play for the stats, but for winning as much as he could, and many people reacted to that. One NBA fan remembered LeBron’s recent games and decided to call him out on Twitter, saying it would have been better for MJ to chase stats because that would give him the GOAT title.

I wish I could go back in time and tell Michael Jordan to focus on stats instead of winning since that’s what the GOAT debate is all about,” @DrGuru_ tweeted a couple of days ago.

This tweet sparked a lot of reaction, with most fans siding with Jordan, while others defended James and everything he’s done for the game.

Wouldn’t listen. Too much of a lunatic, had to play defense

I guarantee you Bron would never say anything like this because we know part of his legacy is to stay Chase and Stuff….which he feels makes the debate closer for him to come out on top. 🤣

MJ is also #2 behind Magic for player w/ highest finals series APG. He did it while averaging 31+ ppg that series. More than bron ever did. pic.twitter.com/gtNKag3RWW

If Jordan didn't retire after the First 3 peat It wouldn't even be close

— 24' Champions (@Kc4Tw) March 14, 2022

Phil Jackson wasn't even a top coach at the time. Just like Pippen wasn't a established superstar.

They all grew together unlike LeBron running to different teams and trading the assets for more Superstar power. MJ was 3peats we're harder. Lebron didn't do it once

LeBron thinks he's close to MJ because he played for 20 seasons to chase Kareem and MJ? Smh

— 24' Champions (@Kc4Tw) March 14, 2022

Instead just tell him not to retire in 1993.
There won't be any debate ever again then.
8 championship in a row 🔥🏀🔥#MJTheRealGoat 🐐

it’s both

MJ > Bron

Damn he right Robert Horry> MJ

Stats cs winning is a team thing stats is personal

if winning is all that mattered, Bill Russell should be the GOAT

if MJ did that he would have 50k points 30k rebounds and 15k assists

Lebron did it in a harder defensive era, and won his rings against better teams than Jordan ever faced

bro Bron’s the GOAT like idek how people still see it as a competition.

Goat response

Is LeBron even better than Kobe? That should be the real debate

If rings is what makes the goat than bill Russell is the goat. Stop complaining Lebron is just a better player than anyone else. Numbers, accomplishments, etc. everything he’s done is just better from the teams he’s beaten to the longevity he’s shown. People will miss him but never respect him while he plays.

Goat is just about who’s the most talented imo

GOAT debate is about the total accumulation of rings, stats amd accolades. Russel has the most championships, but jordan suckers seem to ignore that fact

This debate won’t stop anytime soon and every day, fans find new reasons to name one of them as the greatest player of all time. The NBA celebrating its 75th season and naming the best 75 players of all time also fueled this conversation. As long as LeBron stays active, we will hear about this debate, and if he keeps breaking records, the conversation will get more intense.
