Jason Williams has gotten used to stirring the pot in recent times, making bold claims that raise many eyebrows around the NBA. ‘White Chocolate’ earned a lot of respect and appreciation from fans during his active days thanks to his flashy playstyle, but things are different now that he’s speaking his mind.
Williams doesn’t seem to be the biggest fan of Michael Jordan, constantly giving big takes when it comes to MJ and the never-ending GOAT debate and also while talking about how the player would have fared if he played in today’s league.
In recent hours, the former Sacramento Kings player once again charged against His Airness, saying that he would struggle to score in today’s NBA based on the defenders the association boasts right now. More specifically, he talked about the Milwaukee Bucks’ trio of 2020 DPOY Giannis Antetokounmpo, 4x All-Defensive Jrue Holiday, and Brook Lopez.
“It was easy for him to get to the bucket against GP as it would be against Jrue Holiday today with Giannis and Brook Lopez sitting back there… He’s not scoring as easy today as he did back then.”
This is a very daring statement that didn’t sit well with many fans around the league. Once these words saw the light, many people started calling out Williams for making such a blasphemous claim.

Isaiah Thomas was once an MVP candidate in this era so imagine what Jordan would've done lol

MJ literally scored in an era with the #1 and #2 all time shot blocking leaders in Hakeem and Mutombo. But he'd struggle scoring today with all that extra floor spacing and 3 sec violations?😂

demar just avgd 28 lets not do this
— tizzy (@megafanofstuff) August 31, 2022
Bruh MJ won 10 scoring titles in a slower paced league.
He’d score just as easily today

I ain’t a speck as good as basketball including knowledge of the game like Jason Williams..
Jordan would average 50. Average.. you know how many times he’s be at the free throw line with no hand-checking? The era is 3 pointers. You don’t think MJ would evolve? He’s MJ

Completely discounting the amazing centers in Jordan's era. Ewing, Smits, Hakeem, Zo, Eaton, Robinson, Shaq, Mutombo, Parish, plus many more. Also players could play more physically. It's a ludicrous statement
— AK_in_NYC (@anthonyk56) August 31, 2022
MJ did it pretty nice with Hakeem, Ewing, Mutombo, Mourning, Shaq, Robinson and MANY OTHERS just “sitting back there”…did Brook Lopez was really mentioned in the statement? My god!! 🤯😂🤣😅

Michael Jordan played great in an era with many more restrictions than today. He was a menace on offense and a great defensive player. However, the most notorious aspect of his game was his talent to score the ball. If he was able to come out alive in an era where the game was more physical, things were harder for offensive players and more, then what he would do today would be incredible.
MJ mastered the mid-range art, becoming a killer from his spot, dominating rivals night in and night out. With his style of play, mentality and current rules, Jordan would have an easy day at work every night. Putting him against these defenders would only benefit him, but Williams keeps trying to push the narrative about Jordan not having a chance to succeed in today’s game.
