NBA fans engaged in a pretty heated debate about who they’d pick to lead an NBA franchise right now. As we see players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and more, aging and nearing the end of their careers, fans start to think about who will be the future of the association.
Recently, the SportsCenter Twitter account asked fans which player they would prefer to lead a franchise, Luka Doncic or Anthony Davis. People expressed their opinion but there was one that caught a lot of attention when somebody said that Davis chose not to lead a franchise when he joined LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019.
AD literally chose to not lead a franchise https://t.co/2rNjShwKop

As we all know, AD grew unhappy with the New Orleans Pelicans and their inability to compete with the best teams in the Western Conference so he requested a trade, which took him to Los Angeles. NBA fans started debating this, some agreeing with the tweet, others defending AD and saying that Luka would follow in his footsteps in the future.

AD wanted to play second fiddle to LeBron. leading a franchise was to hard for AD so he took the easy route.

He passed the baton to Jrue and Boogie Cousins (who was only there for half a season). AD never wanted to lead a team.

In a couple years Luka will be in the same spot AD was once in. He’ll want to compete.. that’s not gonna happen in Dallas, just facts.

AD asking out of NOLA is a projection of my inadequacies?

And don't even try to bring up Giannis or Embiid because those two have a second opinion that is undoubtedly better than Jrue even though I like him. Everyone seems to forget that Rondo was on the team when they had boogie this was the only good chance AD had to do something in –

NBA champion AD spent 7 seasons trying to lead a franchise..didn’t work out.. thought it was time to move on. Luka will have the same opportunities to leave Dallas just as AD had. We’ll see if he stays or seeks greener pastures.

AD was hurt and was not going to win in NOLA lol. That’s like saying Bron quit on CLE. When the GM Can give you a good team, you gotta leave.

It's a lot harder to lead the Pelicans than it is the Mavericks. It's a lot easier to recruit players to play in Dallaa than it is New Orleans.

Now Davis is an NBA champion and he’s believed to lead the Los Angeles Lakers after LeBron James retires from the game or leave the franchise in a couple of years. The Brow is still young and he has a bright future ahead of him.
Perhaps playing with a bigger franchise like the Lakers will bring more benefits to him than being in New Orleans but time will tell if that’s actually true. Right now he’s looking to win his back-to-back NBA championship with the Californians in a season that hasn’t been easy for him and his team.
