NBA All-Star season is among the most exciting times in basketball, as we see the best players in the NBA face off against each other in a unique game that can’t be seen anywhere else. The changes the league has made to the All-Star game have made them far more riveting than before, and fans want their favorite players to make it to the contest.

After the announcement of the reserves earlier tonight, fans have had mixed opinions. The West will see players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Lauri Markkanen make their first All-Star appearances. Meanwhile, the East All-Star reserves were also released with a first-time All-Star like Tyrese Haliburton being named, while Jrue Holiday returns to the game after a 10-year break between appearances.

While these names definitely deserve recognition, fans are upset about the players who weren’t included in this elusive group. There are some big names that have been snubbed, while fans have raised their eyebrows at certain selections.

I’d rank Kings PG De’Aaron Fox as the biggest All-Star snub. He’s put up big numbers for a third-place team and is the Cojones Factor player of the year frontrunner.

have no idea how you can explain not having Booker or AD when Zion is starting

those two are the biggest snubs just because of the precedent Zion starting set

BIGGEST ALL-STAR SNUB🤬 pic.twitter.com/iBA5hsaRJ5

Way too many snubs for this all star game.

Either get it right or increase the rosters to 15. pic.twitter.com/9QkUOPliV1

I'm starting to really believe in Philly vs everyone. Harden snub from ASG is absurd and disrespectful.

Pascal Siakam is averaging 25-8-6 and has been the entire engine of the Toronto Raptors. Without him, they would be completely lost in the wind.

It’s a MASSIVE snub that just throws salt on the wound for a pretty depressing season so far for this team.

— Esfandiar Baraheni (@JustEsBaraheni) February 3, 2023

Trae Young was not selected as a 2023 Eastern Conference All-Star.

2nd snub in the last 3 seasons, though he could conceivably be added as an injury replacement.

Young is 3rd among qualified players in assists (9.9 per game) and 13th in scoring (27.0 per game) this season.

As of today, Pascal Siakam is the first and only NBA player to average 25/8/6 and miss the All-Star game.

Generational snub. pic.twitter.com/3opbe5gsLJ

Look at this sequence from all-star snub Anthony Davis. pic.twitter.com/8AgODMEcam

— Carlos Yakimowich (@CarlosYakJr) February 3, 2023

Zion Williams – 29 games – Starter
Jaren Jackson – 35 games – Reserve
Anthony Davis – 28 games – Snub

How did AD not make the All-Star game?

— Matt (@sixringsofsteeI) February 3, 2023

De’Aaron Fox, Siakam and Anthony Edwards the three biggest snubs of the All-Stat game.

— Brooklyn Netcast (@BrooklynNetcast) February 3, 2023

You can make an All-Star Snubs team right now and it would look better than the actual All-Star Team.

— Colb (@___Colb___) February 3, 2023

Not big on “snubs” bc ultimately it’s hard to get in with only 12 spots, but I definitely felt like James Harden deserved a spot on the all star team. Is what it is. Wish they would update and make it 15 spots.

— Coast 2 Coast (@Coast2CoastNBA) February 3, 2023

How in the Heck DeAaron Fox and James Harden are not on these teams? This is the part that ticks me off and makes me remember the past snubs personally. Harden penalized for playing the right way and Fox penalized for voters saying no way to 2 kings in All Star game! @NBAAllStar https://t.co/ridt5OwPiI

No Pascal Siakam in the All-Star game that’s a snub and a half

— Matt (@sixringsofsteeI) February 3, 2023

Fans will constantly disagree over topics like this. Players like Anthony Davis and Devin Booker haven’t played enough games. Trae Young and James Harden are playing below the level fans expect from them. Jalen Brunson and De’Aaron Fox got outpaced by other first-time All-Star guards to the spots many believed should be theirs.

Other names like Jimmy Butler, Darius Garland, Pascal Siakam, Anthony Edwards, and others have also been called massive snubs.

Is This A Controversial All-Star List?

The reserves have generated a lot of debate over certain players. Jaren Jackson Jr. might not be as eye-popping as Anthony Davis, but his defensive excellence this season has enabled the Grizzlies to have incredible amounts of success. Given the amount of time AD spent out with injury, it’s fair for JJJ to be rewarded for his performances. However, it does seem wrong to say JJJ is better than AD.

De’Aaron Fox was widely expected to be named to the All-Star game and is probably going to be one of the first names called up if anyone is injured and unable to play. The 3 guards ahead of him are objectively having better seasons for their respective franchises.

James Harden is upset that he wasn’t selected but what Tyrese Haliburton is doing on the court has allowed the Indiana Pacers to massively overachieve this season. Jrue Holiday has been perenially underrated and is finally getting the All-Star recognition people have believed he’s deserved for ages.

Every year some players have to get snubbed, as not every great player in the league can make the All-Star team.
