NBA Fans Debate Which Remaining Free Agents Teams Should Sign: Carmelo Anthony, Collin Sexton, And Dwight Howard Are All Still Available

3 Min Read

The NBA offseason is well and truly in full swing. Not only has the draft already happened, but free agency officially began on July 1st, with several players signing contracts already. The likes of Zach LaVine and Bradley Beal signed new contracts to stay with their teams, while Jalen Brunson, for example, ended up joining a new team in free agency.

While there hasn’t been all that much drama, like when Kawhi Leonard was a free agent in 2019, some teams have used it as an opportunity to get better than others. And while a lot of players have already signed deals, some are yet to join a team. There are several players, some former stars, who find themselves without a team still.

Dennis Schroder shot his shot with LeBron James on Instagram, suggesting that they team up with each other once again, but he’s not the only player without a franchise. Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, DeMarcus Cousins, and LaMarcus Aldridge are all free agents as well. And even the young and exciting Collin Sexton hasn’t found the team for him yet.

Fans on Reddit discussed which teams could use one of the players remaining, with some interesting discussions ensuing.

“If Trez never went to the bubble, he might have secured a 80 mil payday.”

“Denver could still use Cousins. I don’t know why he’s not coming back. Better him than that bum DJordan.”

“As a Nets fan, I would’ve taken Dwight or Whiteside over D Jordan easily.”

“Blazers could really use Whiteside, too. We only have one backup center on the roster and he’s best suited as a 3rd stringer. Just one injury and we’re royally f**ked.”

“Collin Sexton would be literally ideal for the Mavs.”

“I’ll take Dwight Howard on a vet min on the Warriors.”

“Schroder I could see end up in Phoenix based off the way Cam Payne played last season.”

“Melo can easily still score, someone need to grab him quick.”

“The Pelicans should get Melo, they could use his scoring.”

“I cannot believe that no team has signed Sexton yet.”

“It’s crazy still seeing Carmelo Anthony’s name mentioned. I was watching him when I was in high school. Now I’m a super adult and hes still playing.”

“The old guard really can’t find a deal right now, huh?”

A lot of these players wouldn’t have struggled for a contract for most of their careers, and it’s quite likely that most will find a team before the season starts as well. There is still some value to be had, and anyone who signs Collin Sexton could really add a nice piece as well, so the drama isn’t exactly all done yet.
