The Dallas Mavericks have looked horrific to end this season, and that is putting it mildly. Following their loss to the Atlanta Hawks in another crucial game, the team has now lost 7 of their last 8 games. Pairing Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving hasn’t worked, while Head Coach Jason Kidd seems lost at times. As such, there are a lot of questions about what exactly the issue is in Dallas.

NBA fans have a lot to say in these situations, so it’s no surprise that when this question was asked, there were many answers. Owner Mark Cuban is up for criticism, as one comment pointed out his biggest recent mistake: “Considering they let Brunson walk and not pay him only $50mil I’d have to say Cuban.”

Kyrie Irving has often been blamed for his teams’ failures in the past. But one fan seems to think it’s actually on Luka Doncic, even though some people will want to blame Kyrie: “They going blame Kyrie but it’s really Luka.”

Jason Kidd has been criticized for his rotations this season, and his inability to draw up plays and offensive sets that can get crucial buckets. The defense has also fallen off a cliff. So it’s no surprise that one fan says, “Kidd shouldn’t even have a job.”

And of course, some question Kyrie Irving, considering his recent history of teams not living up to expectations after getting him. A fan shared a meme of him captioned, “Hi. It’s me. I’m the problem it’s me.”

Saying that any of these individuals are wholly the problem wouldn’t be right, although some take more of the blame than others. The closest thing to a right answer was given by another fan who wrote, “Silly question. It’s not who’s the problem, they all are. It’s a team. Multiple reasons why the Mavs are failing.”

What Has Gone Wrong For The Dallas Mavericks?

It’s unthinkable to think that a team could be the 4th seed, trade for an All-Star starter, and then end up missing the play-in. Yet that’s what is happening in Dallas. The main problem is with the roster, they lack a solid big man. The Dallas Mavericks have regularly been dominated on the boards by their opponents. They also lack defense, as shown by the fact that they gave up nearly 130 points to the Miami Heat.

Luka Doncic has been a shell of himself, while Kyrie Irving has admitted that they are still trying to figure out how it all fits together. What’s more, he may not even stay in free agency. Jason Kidd’s failings have been obvious, his lack of a proper system and refusal to play certain players has hurt the team. Even if they make the play-in at this point, the franchise needs to make some big changes this summer.
