The Minnesota Timberwolves have guaranteed themselves a spot in the West’s 7-8 play-in game after their final win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

During the 108-113 win, a shocking fight between Rudy Gobert and Kyle Anderson on the Wolves broke out in the bench area. Gobert has taken the blame for the skirmish and apologized to his teams and fans on Twitter, causing many fans to mock him.

“Emotions got the best of me today. I should not have reacted the way I did regardless of what was said. I wanna apologize to the fans, the organisation and particularly to Kyle, who is someone that I truly love and respect as a teammate”, says Rudy Gobert.

One fan said, “What I read.”

Another fan joked about Gobert needing to leave the NBA for China.

A fan was happy to see Rudy take the blame openly, “Good that you are being accountable.”

One fan thinks this apology is just good PR, “Rudy’s PR team.”

Another fan mocked Gobert, “You connected on that punch like it was a free throw.”

A fan believes we saw Gobert’s insecurities on full display, “Insecurity is always loud.”

A Bulls fan reminded the Wolves how much they gave up to acquire Gobert, “6 first-round picks.”

The fight didn’t end up being really sorry, but everyone who has seen the video knows Gobert was excessively aggressive, to begin with.

Gobert will hope to lock down Anthony Davis in the play-in tournament to solidify the Wolves’ ticket into the postseason.

Will This Hurt The Wolves In The Play-In?

A situation where the highest-paid player on the team has to be sent home y the organization in the middle of a must-win game is always going to be complicated. The Wolves need Gobert to beat the Lakers in their play-in match, but it will be a tall task given the red-hot form of the Lakers and the current questions around Minnesota.

Gobert’s debut season with the Wolves has been convincingly disappointing. It’s his time to change that perspective and show why he is a 3-time DPOY against the Lakers to give the Wolves their first second-round appearance since when Kevin Garnett was on the team.
