The Minnesota Timberwolves impressed the entire NBA community in the 2021-22 NBA season. Prior to that, the Timberwolves were struggling and stuck at the bottom of the barrel for years.
Despite having a genuine star player in Karl-Anthony Towns on the team, the T-Wolves were missing the NBA playoffs consecutively. But that changed last season after their young star Anthony Edwards had a breakout season.
Behind Edwards’ amazing performance, the Timberwolves not only qualified for the postseason but also gave the Memphis Grizzlies tough competition in the first round. Unfortunately, the team still lacked a defensive beast on the roster.
Well, the franchise has finally fixed that flaw after trading for 3x NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert. It’s obvious that the Timberwolves look like a genuine threat to some of the best teams in the Western Conference.
Obviously, everyone around the league noticed this, including the Brooklyn Nets. It’s a well-known fact that the Nets want to trade Kevin Durant following his request for the same a few days ago.
On that note, the Nets decided to try their luck with the Timberwolves. They asked for an absurd trade package including Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and 4 first-round draft picks, of course, the Timberwolves declined this proposal by the Nets.
The Instagram page asked its fans if this trade had gone through which team would have been the winner. Well, here’s what NBA fans thought about it.
manzo97815: Nah ant too valuable.
elemusa1: He not even worth edwards.
thorveos: The nets would have edwards has superstar potential towns is pretty much a superstar. 1-2 years of Durant isn’t worth that plus 4 firsts.
sidneydorsainvil: They’re not getting Edward ☠️☠️☠️ nets will have to settle eventually so nobody’s stressing this besides them. That price is gonna have to go down.
mizzy2k_: I meeaaaan Kat and Ant MIGHT get you there in the west, but KD WILL get you there ♂️.
jiggy___josh: Lmao this MIGHT be the most ridiculous proposal ive ever seen.
o_aka_oliver: What 4 firsts? Minnesota doesn’t have 4 1sts to trade after the Gobert trade Genius.
antonio_rivereas7: Hell no lol timberwolves would never, and KD only wants to play in PHX.
jeffdoupe: Lmao are the Nets delirious? Asking the world for a 34 year old player with an injury history. What GM in their right mind would trade KAT and Edwards for Durant straight up? Let alone adding 4 picks on top of that.
jimmy_gully: I don’t blame them. They gave up all that for gobert lol.
bryanchandler1990: Kd is not worth that anymore.
Kevin Durant is definitely one of the best players in the league, but he is about to turn 34 years old later this year. Additionally, there is a huge possibility that KD will request a trade from the Timberwolves right after joining them.
The biggest concern of all is that Durant has had a lot of injuries over the last few seasons, so the Timberwolves might not even get to see him play if they go forward with this trade. Thankfully, the Timberwolves rejected this trade, and now they can focus on trying to make a meaningful playoffs run next season.
