Russell Westbrook’s poor three-point shooting woes were laid bare against the Golden State Warriors who didn’t bother guarding him when he had a chance to take a shot. And this had fans roasting the Los Angeles Clippers guard.

The 34-year-old was left unguarded, and while one expected Westbrook to launch the three, he ended up passing the ball to Paul George. It was puzzling to see him not take the chance when the Warriors gave him all the space in the world.

The trolling from fans was relentless on Reddit. Please note that the comments have been edited for the purpose of clarification:

“Honestly shows growth he didn’t just shoot it anyways,” one of the fans opined. “Why not just move 5 feet closer and then shoot? No one is near the FT line,” another asked.

“By the time he moves 5 ft, someone will be on him. He should really take that shot. Statistically, he will hit those with no one guarding him, but the warriors are playing with his head,” a fan commented.

“If Westbrook is even 50% from the FT line then it’s a good shot. And I know he’s better than that,” one comment read.

Some bought up stats to back their thoughts: “He is shooting 29% from 3 over the last 6 years and most of those shots being wide open. It’s not going to get better at this point.”

Westbrook had a woeful and forgettable game with 8 points, 6 assists, and 4 costly turnovers. He shot 3-for-12, including 0-for-5 from three-point range. The end result was a 115-91 loss to Golden State extending the Clippers’ losses to four in a row.

What’s Next For The Struggling LA Clippers?

It should be worth noting that the Clippers would be aware of what they would get with Russell Westbrook — insane energy and athleticism, good days, and forgettable days with glaring errors. But at this stage of the tournament, they can’t afford to have losses pile up.

They have been 0-4 since they landed Westbrook, and while he did have one bad game compared to his debut and the subsequent outings, the Clippers will need to figure out a way to get out of the slump they’re in.

The loss to the Warriors puts them at 33-32 in the West — seventh place in the standings and just one win over the .500 mark. With less than 20 games to go, the Clippers, touted as one of the teams that would be legitimate title contenders, will need to notch up some wins to even make the playoffs as the regular season promises to end on a tight note.
