Yesterday, the entire NBA community banded together to celebrate the life and memory of Kobe Bryant. Gone since the fatal helicopter crash in 2020, Kobe’s death rocked the NBA world to its core, and it’s a tragedy that has not been forgotten by the countless fans, players, and analysts who grew up watching Kobe build one of the greatest careers we’ve ever seen.

So even though Kobe isn’t around himself anymore, his impact is still seen from far and wide, and his family continues to receive support from the entire NBA family. Just this week, Chris Paul was spotted having a moment with Bianka, the 6-year-old daughter of Kobe and Vanessa.

It made for a really wholesome moment for people to enjoy, but many were stricken with grief at the thought of Bianka having to grow up without her sister and father.

The Bryant family is like royalty in the NBA world, and CP3 is just one of countless basketball figures who have stepped up in support of Vanessa and her children.

As for the relationship between Paul and Bryant himself, there’s not much to say except to think about what could have been. Paul was nearly traded to the Lakers years ago before it was vetoed, and he lost his chance to team up with Kobe.

Kobe And Paul Were Nearly Teammates In 2011

Chris Paul was always close with the Bryant family, and it’s no secret that he and No. 24 harbored a deep respect for each other both on and off the court. The vetoed Lakers trade will always be a major what-if for both sides and even Paul himself had admitted to dreaming about what a potential pairing with Kobe might have looked like.

“You know, I’ll talk about it at some point, but me and Kobe had actually got on the phone and talked about, you know, this and that, and me and my brother was about to get on a flight to fly to LA,” said Paul. “There are times where I’ll be like, ‘Man, this would have been….'”

Sadly, we’ll never know how a Bryant and Paul tandem would have worked out, but it’s nice to see CP3 keeping his relationship with the Bryant family alive.
