The Brooklyn Nets looked set to be one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference 24 hours ago. Despite a plethora of trade rumors surrounding their superstar guard Kyrie Irving, Nets fans were elated the moment it was revealed that Irving had opted to continue with the franchise.

Given that the franchise now had Kyrie along with Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons all under contract for the 2022-23 season, things seemed all settled for Brooklyn. But this was certainly the calm before the storm as the Nets were stunned with superstar scorer and 2nd All-NBA forward Kevin Durant handing over a trade request.

Ever since the information has passed down to the NBA community, fans have been in pandemonium with Twitter buzzing with memes and jokes about the franchise and its players. This time it was Kyrie Irving who was subject to some brutal memes.

One fan made an absolute savage comment with the caption, “KD waited to make sure Kyrie opted in and couldn’t follow him.”

Another tweet featured a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Clip where a character hilariously laughs off at the word ‘We’ implying the duo of Kyrie and Durant.

Another meme though took the cake. Captioned as ‘Kevin Durant waiting for Kyrie to opt-in only so he can request a trade later’, the tweet featured Game of Thrones’ famous character Little Finger who is known for his betrayals in the show.

With Durant now demanding a trade, the Nets realistically do not have much of a chance to compete in the Eastern Conference without the forward. If KD leaves, Irving’s departure from the team will be imminent.

Kyrie might have missed multiple games last season but he is still a valuable contributor when he is on the court. Be it his skillful dribbling or his incredible scoring, the 30-year-old can easily be a great piece to a team hoping to contend for the championship. A possible destination in this scenario is likely the Los Angeles Lakers.

If Irving can find himself around Anthony Davis and LeBron James, it might be a win-win for both parties forming one of the most dynamic Big 3s in recent memory while the Nets secure their future with some draft picks. Can Kyrie Irving secure a move away from the Nets?
