Whenever NBA fans see some rankings, they are quick to criticize them for a variety of reasons. The main one almost always is that their favorite player is not there, or somebody they don’t like owns a high spot.
In recent days, we saw how they had a lot to say about The Ringer’s list of the best players in the league, which raised some eyebrows around the NBA community. More recently, they were shocked to see the latest NBA.com’s MVP rankings.
Well, given that these ratings will keep coming, it’s common to see fans criticizing them as soon as they see the light. Even if their not subjective and are based on a stat, NBA fans will have something to say about it, and HoopsHype recently confirmed that.
HoopsHype’s Top 30 List Is Met With Criticism
Based on their Global Rating, HoopsHype revealed the top 30 players in the NBA so far this 2022-23 season, with Luka Doncic leading the way. The Slovenian superstar, who is also a serious MVP candidate this season, is followed by Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant, while Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic close the top 5.

The first five spots don’t have anything weird, but after that, things get complicated. Many fans reacted to this ranking with harsh criticism, asking why Donovan Mitchell was so high on the list, why a player like Julius Randle was included, and also wondering why other stars like Kyrie Irving and LeBron James were nowhere to see.

Kyrie and LeBron retired!?

Worst list ever, all of those clowns ahead of Curry. 😂 Curry has millions of dollars of defensive coordination, dedicated by teams around the league, to stop him. And they still can't. It's been like this since 2015.

You put a guy that gets injured every 5 seconds but don’t put one of the best players of all time 🤦🏾♂️

Man, I’m looking at this like there is no way that Zion, Trae, Ja, Booker, and Embiid are that far down.
But then I look at the others above them, and am like, “yeah. Makes sense.”
Crazy world we’re living in when Devin Booker is the 11th best player in the NBA. 🤯

Main takeaway, Bam is about 50 positions to high

I'm thinking there's minimum games played to qualify.
Hence why Siakam and Lillard are not on the list.

In the NBA world, it’s very common to see fans voicing their frustrations when they see something they don’t really appreciate, and this was another example of that. The thing is that this ranking is based on a stat, not on the opinion of some of the guys on HoopsHype. It still could be shocking for many fans, but that’s the reality. They’re ranking the best players based on this, but then again, NBA fans will always have something to say about everything.
