If a team wants to succeed in the NBA, they need to be good in all the departments. Whether on the defensive or the offensive end of the court, any NBA Championship contender is usually balanced in both these parameters.

In order to make sure that a team works fluidly on the court, it needs a decent head coach. This is something the Brooklyn Nets have arguably missed over the last few seasons.

After adding Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to the roster, the Nets had the job of finding an equally great head coach to manage the two superstars. Despite rumors that neither Kyrie nor Durant wanted it, the Nets decided to hand former NBA star Steve Nash the job.

Now, this is not a jab at Nash’s playing career. He was one of the best at what he did during his career, and he has a great resume to support that claim. But playing and coaching are two completely different things. There is no guarantee that a great player can be a great coach as well.

And after watching how the Nets performed over the last two seasons, it has been proved correct. Speaking of the matter, NBA analyst Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson recently revealed that KD and Kyrie never wanted Nash as their head coach. Scoop B revealed the information on a recent episode of his show on Spotify Live.

Scoop B (@ScoopB) on Spotify Live:

“Kevin Durants desire to have Steve Nash is false. The person Kevin Durant wanted as the coach of the Brooklyn Nets was Ty Lue. Kyrie Irving wanted Phil Handy. The Nets hired Steve Nash instead.”

“Kevin Durant’s desire to have Steve Nash is false. The person Kevin Durant wanted as the coach of the Brooklyn Nets was Ty Lue. Kyrie Irving wanted Phil Handy. The Nets hired Steve Nash instead.”

The aforementioned tweet has been retweeted by Scoop B, which proves that the message has been interpreted correctly, and he wasn’t joking about it.

With each passing day, it is starting to make more and more sense why the Brooklyn Nets’ superteam experiment failed. The franchise has seemingly messed up at every stage and is now on the verge of going into the rebuilding phase.
