Ben Simmons’ future has been the subject of great discussion over the last few months. The Australian point guard has become the target for many frustrated 76ers fans after their disappointing exit in the 2021 NBA Playoffs. With Joel Embiid gone, Ben Simmons was expected to step up in his absence against the Atlanta Hawks.

But Simmons and the 76ers crumbled as Trae Young and the Hawks defeated them in 7 games to reach the NBA Finals. With the loss, all the strong work that Simmons had done in the regular season had been erased. And since then, 76ers fans have been wanting and hoping for a trade.

If NBA insider Keith Pompey is to be believed, they will get that wish very soon. Pompey made an appearance on The Mike Missanelli Show to discuss Ben Simmons’ future.

From what he has heard, a trade for Ben Simmons could happen very soon. The timing of it is the only thing that remains to be decided. Pompey did not give a proper timeline but did say that it is more likely than not that Simmons will be traded from the 76ers before the NBA season starts.

“I think he’s gonna get moved… I felt like, talking to people I spoke to and sources, they all thought it was going to happen in the preseason. Happen maybe right before training camp, in training camp, what have you. Maybe right before the final rosters. But the belief is that he is still going to get traded. I think that’s right.”

Simmons could be on his way out of Philadelphia very soon if these reports are to be believed. So far the 76ers have declined multiple trade offers for Simmons, including one package from the Warriors, as they want a big haul for the All-Star. But as the season comes closer, they may have no other choice but to trade him for the best available package. For the moment, Simmons and the 76ers have not been in communication, and all signs point to a trade for Simmons.
