Charles Barkley is someone that has never hesitated to speak his mind on Inside The NBA and whatever other media appearances he has made since his retirement. Chuck is an NBA media legend, his ability to candidly make his point has made him a favorite among NBA fans but it can occasionally get him into trouble as well.

It’s not just basketball takes from Barkley that have fans laughing along and enjoying what he’s saying, it’s also stuff about the world at large. His jokes about San Antonio women landed him in some water but they remain iconic as a part of NBA media based purely on the fact that they seemingly left Shaquille O’Neal on the verge of tears every time.

And Barkley had another take about women that wasn’t too popular, equating childbirth to getting an ankle sprained during an NBA game. And following Mother’s Day, Barkley’s daughter, Christiana, who herself is a mother now, hit back at Charles’ take from 2009 on the air.

Charles Barkley (in 2009): “Women be milking that baby thing too. It can’t be nearly as bad as playing a basketball game with a sprained ankle.”

Christiana Barkley (in 2022): “Hi, dad! It’s Henry and I. I’m just taking a break from celebrating my very first Mother’s Day, because I saw a very disturbing video an hour ago. You said that playing an NBA game on a sprained ankle is much more painful than childbirth and that women be ‘milking that baby thing’.

“I just wanna say that a sprained ankle is a spa treatment compared to giving birth to an actual baby, and an NBA game is 48 minutes and some women, myself included, are in labor for 48 hours. So just wanted to clear that up, enjoy the rest of your evening.”

It was a savage response and it seems Christiana gets her humor from her father, but Charles Barkley isn’t one to be left speechless either. He had a quick and funny response on the ready.

Charles Barkley (in 2022): “Baby, baby, I meant them other women. So I went and spend 2 days with her for Mother’s Day and it was the greatest two nights of my life. So, shoutout to her and little Henry, but I mean these other women be ‘milking this baby thing’.”

Barkley is a national treasure at this point, NBA media will never be the same once he decides to retire from television. Thankfully, that may be a while yet and at least for the next couple of years, we can enjoy some more classic Chuck quotes before he goes on to become a full-time grandpa.
