Draymond Green has been making headlines in recent days after his interview with Checc’n In Podcast went live. The Golden State Warriors legend opened up on many situations of his life and career, including when he found out how poor his mom was, the Kevin Durant move to the Warriors and his own journey with the Dubs.

But that wasn’t the only thing he discussed during the interview. Draymond is a player who isn’t shy about speaking his mind, no matter who disagrees with what he says, he’ll always be ready to fire back.

Talking about the beginning of the Warriors dynasty, he revealed that one specific team helped them be more competitive than before, as they didn’t think the hype around the ‘Lob City’ Los Angeles was justified.

Draymond Green Takes A Shot At ‘Lob City’ Clippers And The Hype Around Them

Back in the day, when the Warriors were becoming a championship team, the Clippers were getting all the attention. They had Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan, an electrifying style of play, and a winning coach like Doc Rivers. Everything looked ready for them to win it all, but the Warriors had different plans. According to Draymond, all that hype fueled the Dubs.

“Everyone at that time was talking about how the Clippers was the next young team up, and we ain’t believe that,” Draymond said via Joey Linn of The Wichita Eagle.

Green admitted that they have quality and could challenge for the title, but they weren’t that team.

“We felt like, ya’ll think these are the next young guys up? We felt like these guys are front-runners,” he said. “That’s how we felt. When we beat them, they’re bickering at each other… When they’re winning, it’s Lob City, it’s all of this stuff, but when they’re losing, they’re bickering and stuff. They ain’t really tight like that, they’re front-runners. That’s what we believed.”

In the end, it was the Warriors who became everything people thought the Clippers would be. They have won four championships in eight years, making it to the Finals six times. As for the ‘Lob City’ Clippers, they dismantled that team and spent a couple of seasons rebuilding before landing both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Now, the Warriors keep going strong while the Clippers are trying to dethrone them. This could be the 2023 Western Conference Finals matchup, and the Clips can finally get revenge on the Dubs.
