The Los Angeles Lakers have been a disappointing team this entire season. They were expected to be a team that is contending for the NBA championship, but for a variety of reasons, they have been unable to do so.

As of right now, the Los Angeles Lakers are the 11th seed. They have fallen out of the play-in tournament with their recent loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite that, Anthony Davis has recently declared that the Los Angeles Lakers can go 5-0 in their last 5 games.

“We know the situation that we are in, and even though I’ve got soreness in my foot, he’s got soreness in his ankle, we felt like this was the game we had to play and obviously the next five games as well just try to control what we can control. Our mindset is to go 5-0 in these games and let the chips fall where it may. We dropped this one, but have five left to try to, you know, control what we can control and hopefully things will fall in our favor.”

However, the chances of making the play-in tournament are low for the Los Angeles Lakers. A Reddit user has recently shared a graphic featuring ESPN’s BPI projections, which reveal that the Los Angeles Lakers only have an 11% chance of making the play-in tournament.

There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers will fight on to try and make the play-in tournament. At this point, they have nothing to lose by doing so. They still have LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook on the roster, and that should be enough talent to make a late-season push upwards.

However, if the Lakers don’t end up making the play-in tournament, then their next goal will be to go into the offseason and figure out how to build a more competitive team around LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who won the team their last title in 2020. We’ve seen them win before, and perhaps they will be able to win again with the right roster around them.
