The Los Angeles Lakers had a pretty rough week. After fighting their way to almost leveling their wins and loss record this season after a pitiful 2-10 start, the Lakers had some poor injury and health luck that saw them fall to 3 consecutive losses against playoff-level teams in the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors, and Philadelphia 76ers.

However, LeBron James and Anthony Davis seemed to have found the peak of their powers once again. The pair combined for 69 points in the Lakers’ win over the Detroit Pistons, which impressed fans around Twitter and made them believe the Lakers might just be one piece away from contention.

LeBron had 35 points on 58.3% efficiency from the field, while AD had 34 points on 66.7% efficiency. This is arguably the best duo in the league when healthy and the Lakers will hope that is enough to take them to the playoffs this season.

Are LeBron James And Anthony Davis  Enough To Lead The Lakers To Contention?

Contending for a title is a bold thing to say, especially in this year’s NBA when there are only 2 teams that look like they’ve distanced themselves as genuine championship favorites. That also does mean that teams below them can make small changes that can hopefully put them in that same realm.

December 15 is just 3 days away, which means the Lakers will have to decide whether LeBron and AD are enough, or if the team needs more. Relying on them with their age and injury history is a massive gamble, so it will be tough for the Lakers to see the season out and not make any moves to improve the depth around their 2 star players.
