Former NBA Champion Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis shared a video to his Instagram where he’s on his way to prison, sharing the information of his prison from the name to his prisoner number. Davis is headed to FPC Duluth in Minnesota to serve a 40-month sentence for his November 2023 conviction in an alleged scheme to defraud the league’s health care benefits plan.

Davis was sentenced by a federal judge to 40 months in prison, plus three years’ supervised release in May 2024 for his part in an alleged defrauding of the NBA’s Players’ Health and Benefit Welfare Plan for filing false medical claims.

Andre Iguodala, the executive director of the NBPA (National Basketball Players’ Association), wrote a letter asking for leniency for Davis prior to his indictment.

“On behalf of all of our NBPA members past and present, I respectfully ask that you consider Glen’s accomplishments and the positive impact he has had on those around him when determining his sentence. I recognize the seriousness of this legal matter and appreciate the thoroughness of the judicial process and ask for leniency with these factors in mind.”

Davis was indicted along with 22 other people, 18 of them being former NBA players. Some of the other players indicted alongside Davis include, Terrence Williams and Keyon Dooling.

He was ordered to pay $80,000 in restitution and will be required to attend a financial management class and receive mandatory drug treatment under the conditions of his supervised released.

Terrence Williams was sentenced to 10 years last August with other punishments being handed out to people like former guard Will Bynum, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Glen Davis Opened Up On What He Thinks His Prison Experience Will Be Like

Glen Davis, a former NBA champion with the Boston Celtics, has previously spoken about what he intends on doing in prison to TMZ, revealing he thinks he’ll have a good time while incarcerated.

“I feel like I’m going to have good quality time in there. Learn things, meet new people. It’s going to be all right… Shout out to the ladies out there. Write me. I’ll be in there getting fine as hell. When I get out, call me Big Baby Jailbait!”

We won’t be getting any more Instagram stories from Davis for the next three years and four months, after which he’ll still have to remain under supervision for three years. While he has publicly been laughing off what awaits him, going to prison and becoming a convicted felon is definitely not ideal.

Glen Davis averaged 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds over his career, playing for the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, and Los Angeles Clippers over eight seasons. He retired after the 2014-15 season, later playing in the BIG3 and for St. John’s Edge of the National Basketball League of Canada.
