Jason Kidd On Why Luka Doncic Couldn’t Lead Slovenia To The Gold Medal: “I Think He Just Ran Out Of A Little Gas At The End, But He Did Everything. And I Thought His Team Rose To The Occasion Too, Where He Made Those Guys Look Incredibly Good.”

There’s no denying that Luka Doncic is one of the most unique talents in the world.

He’s made an immediate impact in the NBA and has become one of the faces of the league, not only in the United States but all over the world.

That was in full display when he showcased his amazing skill set at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, nearly leading the Slovenian national team to the podium. Sadly, he and his teammates eventually fell short of their goal.

Recently, his new coach Jason Kidd looked back on Doncic’s Olympic performances, lauding his personality and how he wasn’t afraid of the moment:

“On the world stage, I think Luka [Doncic] has thrived,” said Kidd. “I mean he’s not scared of the moment. This summer it was incredible leading his country to the Olympics, to qualify first where people didn’t think that was gonna take place. And then to have the opportunity to [win a] medal was unbelievable.”

“Unfortunately, I think he just ran out of a little gas at the end, but he did everything. And I thought his team rose to the occasion too, where he made those guys look incredibly good. But I thought again, he wasn’t scared of the moment. He steps up every time there’s something new that he faces and again this summer I thought he had an incredible trip to the Olympics,” he concluded.

That seems way too familiar. It’s been the case with the Dallas Mavericks since he made it to the league.

Doncic is a unique talent and has all the tools to be one of the greatest players of all time, but he’s way too gassed at the end of the season.

The Mavericks need to do a better job of differing responsibility out of him and someone needs to step up and help him carry the load, or he’ll be way too exhausted to get them past the first round of the playoffs.
