Royce O’Neale is one of the best 3 and D wings in the NBA, and he has widely been viewed as the best perimeter on the Utah Jazz over the course of the last few years. He averaged 7.4 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 2.5 APG with the Utah Jazz this season while shooting a blistering 38.9% from beyond the arc.

Despite his talents, it seems as though the Utah Jazz will be moving Royce O’Neale. Shams Charania has recently reported that he has been traded to the Brooklyn Nets for a first-round pick.

Utah is trading Royce O’Neale to Brooklyn for a first-round pick, sources tell The Athletic and Stadium

There is no doubt that the acquisition of Royce O’Neale will improve the Brooklyn Nets’ perimeter defense. 3 and D players are crucial in modern basketball, and Royce O’Neale next to All-Star and former DPOY candidate Ben Simmons should give the Nets a decent defense next season.

It remains to be seen how far the Brooklyn Nets end up getting next season. It was recently reported that franchise star Kevin Durant is requesting a trade from the team, and we’ll see what happens on the front going forward. Hopefully, things work out for them, but as a standalone trade, acquiring Royce O’Neale is a good move for the Brooklyn Nets.
