We all know Kevin Durant can be really sensitive sometimes, but he’s also right when things aren’t being done the proper way. The Brooklyn Nets superstar won’t hesitate to call out people to try to make some changes, as he did this offseason when he requested a trade out of Brooklyn. He’s not stopping there and has apparently taken some shots at ESPN.
The so-called ‘worldwide leader in sports’ recently released its top 100 players list for the 2022-23 NBA season, raising many eyebrows in the process. For starters, fans had a lot to say about Stephen Curry’s position, as he was ranked out of the top 3 despite being the reigning Finals MVP.
Moreover, fans took offense to both Kevin Durant and LeBron James being left off the top 5 this year, with James ranking 6th and KD 8th, respectively. Besides fans reacting to this, it seems like KD was also mad to be ranked 8th.
He was ranked below:
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo
2. Nikola Jokic
3. Luka Doncic
4. Joel Embiid
5. Stephen Curry
6. LeBron James
7. Jayson Tatum
Kevin Durant Is Apparently Unhappy With ESPN’s Top 100 List
Earlier this Saturday, Durant hopped on Twitter and shared a screenshot with some song lyrics that could be seen as a response to the fact that he wasn’t part of the top 5 players in the NBA for this campaign.

Look, these lames still
caught up
’cause my
name’s still brought up
In top five convo from
Langfield to
Gainesville, Florida
The lyrics are from a song called “Uncle Bun” by rapper Benny the Butcher, which Durant must feel is perfect for this moment. Last season, he was ranked 1st, and it doesn’t seem like he played that terribly to go seven spots down. This can be another reason why he’ll be locked in entering next season. The Nets have big pressure on their shoulders, and many seem to be overlooking them. If Durant, Ben Simmons, and Kyrie Irving can get things together and play at their best level, this team could make a lot of noise, and KD could reclaim his No. 1 spot on this infamous list.
