Kyrie Irving is so much more than a basketball player, even if many people don’t want to see that. Sure, he’s a great talent with the basketball in his hands, but Irving has shown time and time again that he’s deeper than that. The Brooklyn Nets superstar has earned a lot of criticism precisely for this, as he’s not one with the most common opinions.
Well, that hasn’t affected him, as Kyrie is living a happy life regardless of all the on and off-court controversies he’s lived in recent years. He’s stated time and time again that he is not happy to live with his beliefs, but the player has found the right support to continue with his good life.
One of his rocks is his wife, who always has supported him through thin and thick, showing Kyrie that he’s in a safe place. Kyrie is very appreciative of that and recently sent a big message to her for putting up with everything he thought was bad about him.
Kyrie Irving Shouts Out His Wife For Supporting Him Always
During his recent appearance on Uninterrupted’s The Shop, Kyrie took a couple of seconds to explain how important his wife, Marlene Wilkerson, has helped him during good and bad times (31:30).
“I’ll be honest with you, I’ve been in those circles where the shadows were all around me partying my ass off. Relationships here and there. Going through heartbreak, going through things that show the authentic, true you, because somebody’s actually putting up with your sh*t. Shout out to my wife. You know, she’s actually putting up with all the drama and all the things that I thought I had to hide. And this person came along in my life in the last three years and shook my whole world up. I started having kids, started calling myself a ‘king’, the chief of my tribe. My daughter started doing things that really shaped the way I want to see her future. And that is really what invited me to become a softy.”
He revealed so many things about his personality and the way he sees life, and you really love to see how mature Kyrie is. He might not be the most popular player of all, but he’s very secure in who he is, and that’s something not many people can say. It’s great that he found his partner and now is trying to leave a better world for his daughter.
On the court, Kyrie is getting ready to show the world that the Nets are ready to win it all. He’s looking sharp in recent runs, Kevin Durant is ready to return to the team, and Ben Simmons is expected to be who puts everything together on Steve Nash’s team. This could be a terrific or terrible season for the Nets, but only time will tell.
