LeBron James vs. Luka Doncic is going to be a can’t-miss battle for the rest of James’ career, as it is truly watching the past and the future clash on the NBA court. One of the two players always impresses with incredible performances, and their teams lived up to the hype of this battle.

Doncic put up an incredible triple-double in a 2OT win where James struggled to score from the field but dominated the glass and pulled down 16 rebounds to keep the Lakers in the battle. After being outplayed by Luka, LBJ complimented the skill set of the young star, who he has been praising regularly for the last few years.

“His size. I mean he’s gigantic. A 6-8 point guard. He’s 225 pounds. He has the ball on a string. And more importantly, his vision.”

“His size. I mean he’s gigantic. A 6-8 point guard. He’s 225 pounds. He has the ball on a string. And more importantly, his vision.”

James has said Doncic is a threat to breaking the all-time scoring record, given his incredible scoring pace through the first 5 years of his career. Doncic has stressed that he doesn’t want to play as long as LeBron and hopes to move on from this career sooner than the 38-year-old James.

Should Luka Doncic Try To Go After The All-Time Scoring Record?

What is easy to forget is that Luka Doncic has never really been a ‘rookie’ in the NBA. While he did go through a rookie season, it wasn’t his first season of playing professional basketball, unlike many of the NCAA prospects that he got drafted alongside. Doncic had already established himself as the best player in Europe at the age of 18 after turning pro at the age of 13.

Doncic, at the age of 23, has been playing pro basketball for a decade and has the game to match it. James will naturally be enamored by watching the first player since him to impact his team in as many ways as Doncic does. These 2 players have always had a great relationship, with LeBron serving as a childhood idol for Luka.

Luka will try and match the greatness LeBron has achieved over a career. While he may not do it over the course of a 20-year or longer NBA career, he’s going to put his best foot forward until then.
