The Los Angeles Lakers have been a disappointing team this year. They aren’t the championship contender that many thought they would be at the start of the season, and there’s a chance that they might not make the playoffs at all.

Malik Monk has been one of the bright spots for the Los Angeles Lakers this season. He has shown that he can be a perimeter shot creator and shooter. Currently, Malik Monk is averaging 12.9 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 2.6 APG on the season, while shooting 39.5% from beyond the arc.

When speaking to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Malik Monk opened up about some of the dynamics inside the locker room, claiming that he bonded with rookie Austin Reaves due to both getting yelled at by the “older guys” in the locker room.

“S—, everything,” Monk says. “Ups and downs. Rookie wall. Older guys yelling at the rookies because it’s their fault. Everything they do, it’s your fault out there because they know everything and you don’t and when you mess up, you just got to take it. You got to deal with things like that. I talk to Austin almost every day.”

There is no doubt that Austin Reaves and Malik Monk have been some of the better role players on the roster. It is unfortunate that there are times they get blamed, even though there are other players on the roster that make big mistakes.

There have been previous rumors that have suggested that the atmosphere around the Los Angeles Lakers is negative. This has been a disaster of a season for them, but hopefully, they are able to rally together prior to the end of the season, and potentially make the playoffs via the play-in tournament. They definitely have the individual talent to be a solid play-in tier team, but the key will be them figuring things out as a unit.
