The New Orleans Pelicans have had a subpar start to this year’s season. They went 1-12 in their first 13 games, and many analysts wrote them off as a tanking team that wouldn’t be able to bounce back.

However, the New Orleans Pelicans did not give up on their season, and the wins eventually came. They managed to acquire CJ McCollum at the trade deadline to bolster their chances, and that has certainly been beneficial to their play-in tournament hopes.

As of right now, the New Orleans Pelicans are the 9th seed in the Eastern Conference, having passed up the Los Angeles Lakers for that position after beating Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks. They have the same record as the Los Angeles Lakers, but have the edge in head-to-head matchups.

What makes this achievement even more amazing, is the fact that they have been able to do that without Zion Williamson, who is widely viewed as the best player on the team and a future superstar. It is clear that the New Orleans Pelicans managing to become the 9th seed is very impressive.

For the Los Angeles Lakers, this is certainly a disappointment. There is a chance that they might miss the playoffs entirely at this point, as their schedule over the rest of the season will be extremely difficult. Hopefully, LeBron James and the rest of the roster will be able to figure out a way to improve over these last few weeks. It is clear that this has been a disappointing year for the team, especially since they were considered among the best teams in the league prior to the start of the season.

The play-in picture could still change, as there is still sometime before the end of the season. As of now though, this is the way things stand, and perhaps we’ll see the Los Angeles Lakers get some wins and change how things look in the future.
