Giannis Antetokounmpo might be the best basketball player in the world currently, but there is one thing he does that can’t seem to stop getting to people. Antetokounmpo is good at a lot of things on the basketball court. Scoring, rebounding, and blocking all seem to come naturally for the Greek Freak. But his free throws are an issue, and his new routine is something many in the league have a problem with.

This came up in Giannis Antetokoumpo‘s championship-winning season, with fans counting down to show he takes more than 10 seconds to shoot a free throw. The allocated time is not followed at times with him, and it gives him somewhat of an advantage. And speaking after a 1-point loss for his Mavericks against Giannis’ Bucks, Mark Cuban questioned why the NBA doesn’t crack down on it.

Also, Cuban says Mavs called NBA about Giannis taking more than allowed 10 seconds to shoot FTs in teams’ 1st meeting 2 weeks ago. NBA told Mavs it would be called but in Friday’s rematch Giannis took up to 12 seconds. “I have no idea why they didn’t do that in a 1-point game.” https://t.co/MKSbTH23TK

“Cuban says Mavs called NBA about Giannis taking more than allowed 10 seconds to shoot FTs in teams’ 1st meeting 2 weeks ago. NBA told Mavs it would be called but in Friday’s rematch Giannis took up to 12 seconds. ‘I have no idea why they didn’t do that in a 1-point game.’

Free throws were the Mavericks’ big enemy during that game, the team failed to convert on 14 of their attempts, costing them what would have been a statement victory. Giannis’ routine will continue to garner more scrutiny, and it might even become a major situation later in the season, but even Cuban knows that the Mavericks simply need to start making their shots as well.

Mark Cuban Says The Dallas Mavericks Would Have 5 More Wins If They Made Their Free Throws

The Dallas Mavericks have a 13-13 record, and despite some impressive wins, they have even more embarrassing losses. The team has lost some winnable games after failing to make free throws, and Cuban spoke about that as well to the Dallas Morning News.

“Literally, we’d probably have five more wins if we could shoot free throws,” Cuban said. “Easily. “It’s just the way it goes. We went through the same things early last year and for whatever reason, it’s been an Achilles heel.”

The free-throw line is called the charity stripe for a reason, they are free points that cannot be given up too often. All teams miss a few free throws now and again, but it has become a pattern for the Mavericks. The league may have something to figure out in terms of Giannis’ routine, but the Mavs have some bigger issues to address.
