Controversy aside, Kyrie Irving is a pretty good basketball player.

Amid frustration, outrage, and a buildup of recent losses for the Nets, Uncle Drew flashed his talent again on Tuesday, dropping a career-high and franchise-record 60 points in a win over Orlando.

In the arena, and on Twitter, the star point guard went viral as fans celebrated his amazing performance.

It was an absolute masterpiece from Uncle Drew, who has been on fire over the past few weeks.

Irving, 29, has only played in 18 games this season, all due to his status as an unvaccinated citizen. All season long, he has faced criticism and controversy for refusing the shot, as New York City officials continue to restrict his activity on the court.

Still, nobody has forgotten all the skills and talent Irving brings to the court, and how dangerous he makes the Nets, even as a part-time player.

“I think a lot of teams are going to try to avoid them. In the event that the Nets finish up as the eighth seed, they probably play the Toronto Raptors, who are the seven seed. In the event that they beat them, which I think they would, they would secure the seven. Which means the two seed would get the reward of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving.”

This season, Brooklyn is just 36-33. After dealing with some early injuries, they had to endure the James Harden saga for a few weeks until he was finally traded to Philadelphia.

In return, the Nets got a broken Ben Simmons, who has not played a game all season long.

While uncertainty still dominates the path ahead for Brooklyn, Kyrie’s resurgence has given the franchise and its fans new hope for the days to come. If Irving is somehow able to play full-time this season, it could be all the team needs to secure a title run.
