NBA Rumors: Donovan Mitchell Heavily Linked With A Move To The New York Knicks

Even though he hasn't shown any signs that suggest he wants out of Utah, recent rumors place Donovan Mitchell out of the Jazz sooner than later. The talented shooting guard has exceeded expectations in Salt Lake City and some people fear he should look for a bigger market to continue his career.

The New York Knicks have popped up as a good option for Mitchell, and in recent weeks, more rumors are placing the former Rookie of the Year award finalist in the Big Apple if the Jazz don't win in the near future.

Ric Bucher of Fox Sports writes that the Jazz are under big pressure right now. Following a second-round exit in the 2021 NBA playoffs, they need to show something better or their star will leave the franchise.

If the Jazz appear to be feeling pressure to redeem themselves for last year’s second-round playoff exit after posting the league’s best record, NBA executives say it's in part because the future of star guard Donovan Mitchell in Utah depends on it.

The incessant buzz around the league is that there are those in Mitchell’s circle who believe he is too big of a star for Salt Lake City. Further, some say it’s only a matter of time before he joins former Creative Artists Agency agent and current New York Knicks president Leon Rose.

"They’re a first-round exit from Donovan being in New York," an Eastern Conference scout said.

Besides the Knicks, the Heat have been linked with Mitchell in recent times. The player has shut down those rumors, but anything can happen in the NBA, especially if his team can't get past the second round of the postseason. This would be a major addition to the Knicks, who are reportedly willing to trade Julius Randle for the right price.

Perhaps a Mitchell-Randle can work for the Jazz, but seeing how the latter is playing this season, that's highly unlikely.
