Nikola Jokic is the 2021-22 MVP, and there’s no question that he is a transcendent player. He is the best passing big in the league currently, and quite possibly ever. During the regular season, Nikola Jokic averaged 27.1 PPG, 13.8 RPG, and 7.9 APG, and it’s clear that he had elite individual production.

Shams Charania has recently revealed that Nikola Jokic has signed a 5-year, $264 million supermax deal with the Denver Nuggets. For the Denver Nuggets it is obviously a no-brainer to retain a two-time MVP, and it is clear that they were able to do so.

Two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic has agreed to a five-year, $264 million supermax contract extension with the Denver Nuggets, the richest deal in NBA history, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Fifth season (2027-28) will be a player option at $60M.

The Denver Nuggets should be contenders once Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. return from their injuries next season. They made the Western Conference Finals in 2020, and there’s no reason for them not to be able to do it again. It is quite clear that they are one of the most talented teams in the Western Conference, and hopefully, that talent can translate into a deep playoff run.

It remains to be seen how far the Denver Nuggets get next season. The Western Conference will certainly be tough. However, with the reigning MVP leading them, they can beat anyone in a given series, and maybe even end up getting to the NBA Finals.
