Russell Westbrook was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in a blockbuster trade recently, and it is easy to see why the Los Angeles Lakers acquired the star. Russell Westbrook is a great scorer and facilitator, and he can be a ballhandler while LeBron James is off the court. Westbrook has been the lead superstar on his own team before, and he can certainly carry a huge offensive load for the Los Angeles Lakers.

In a recent media appearance, Russell Westbrook recognized LeBron James for being one of the best players in the world, while stating that his job coming into the team will be to make it easier for James.

Bron is one of the best players to play this game. His ability to kind of do everything on the floor allowes me to be able to just figure it out. I’m coming to a championship caliber team, my job is to make sure I’m able to make his game easy for him. I’ll find ways to do that throughout the game as it pertains to ballhandling and all that. It really doesn’t matter, there’s many different ways you can impact the game wihtout having the ball in your hands. I’ve been able to do that for many years, and I’ll figure it out.

There is no question that it will take some time for the Los Angeles Lakers stars to gel and learn how to play with one another. While there may be some bumps along the road, it is clear that getting Russell Westbrook to help with some of the offensive duties was key for the Los Angeles Lakers. There were times in the playoffs where LeBron James struggled, as due to Anthony Davis’ injury, there was no other consistent offensive presence next to him. With Westbrook, that will be the case no longer.
