Victor Wembanayma is generally viewed as the best prospect in the 2023 NBA Draft, due to his speed and skill at his size. His combination of length and athleticism is also intriguing, and there’s no doubt that Wembanayma could potentially be a franchise-changing player.

Previously, Victor Wembanayma compared his game to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s and Kevin Durant’s, and it is clear that the big man is extremely confident in what he could become in the league, noting that he wants to be “the best ever” in certain areas of the game.

I would hate that my game resembles only one player. I think that wouldn’t be ambitious enough. But the closest, if I got to pick two, I’d say Giannis and KD. Those are my two favorite players.

He continued about having a little bit of Rudy Gobert in him, “Yeah, yeah. I wanna be the best ever in some fields.”

Though there’s no doubt that Victor Wembanayma will likely be the best player from the 2023 NBA Draft, there are certainly other players that could be elite in the league, such as Scoot Henderson.

In a recent media appearance, Victor Wembanayma commented on Scoot Henderson, claiming that if he was “never born” then Scoot Henderson would deserve the No. 1 pick slot. It is clear that he views himself as better than Henderson and is confident in what he brings to the table.

Presumed No. 1 2023 draft pick Victor Wembanayma on presumed No. 2 pick Scoot Henderson: “He’s really a great player. If I was never born, I think he would deserve the first spot.”

There is no doubt that both Victor Wembanayama and Scoot Henderson are fantastic players in their own right. With that being said, it is quite likely that franchises view Victor Wembanayama as the better choice at No. 1, as his ceiling as a player is much higher than Scoot Henderson’s due to his skill set and athleticism.

It remains to be seen which team Victor Wembanayama ends up on. There are a lot of teams that will be aiming for a top pick in the draft next year, and as of right now, he could go to any of them. Hopefully, he lands in a destination where he can develop well and become a star, and it’ll be interesting to see how well Victor Wembanayama ends up being in the league.
