It is always special for a father to see his son succeed in life and for Scottie Pippen; he is finally getting to see his son Scotty Pippen Jr. perform on an NBA stage. Scotty, who wasn’t picked in the 2022 NBA Draft, was signed on a two-way contract by the Los Angeles Lakers and he continues to impress with the team at the Summer League.

He followed up a solid showing on his debut against the Miami Heat in which he had 14 points to go with 6 rebounds, with 15 points, 8 assists, and 3 steals against the Golden State Warriors in 20 minutes last night. His father was also in attendance for the game and was undoubtedly very proud of him after that display.

Scotty definitely has a lot of talent. After averaging over 20 points per game in his last 2 seasons in college and if early impressions are anything to go by, he looks likely to crack the Lakers rotation at some point in the regular season. That would mean that LeBron James could potentially end up playing with Scottie Pippen’s son and Shaquille O’Neal’s son in this upcoming season, which is a testament to his longevity.

The Lakers will be hoping that these youngsters can make an impact for them, as their aging roster struggled a lot last season. An influx of youth will make a difference as long as they have some talent, as Scotty clearly seems to have. LeBron is also pushing for the Lakers to acquire Kyrie Irving and the King is probably the only one around who can somewhat keep Irving in check. If they do manage to trade for him and if these youngsters do show that they belong on an NBA court, then the Lakers will return to contention a lot sooner than anyone thought.
