NBA Rumors: Carmelo Anthony, New York Knicks Showing ‘Mutual Interest’ In Reunion

2 Min Read

Carmelo Anthony just finished a good season with the Portland Trail Blazers after several months trying to make a return to the league. The Blazers gave him a new opportunity and Melo didn’t disappoint. The future Hall of Famer delivered and helped his team reach the playoffs; unfortunately, the Los Angeles Lakers were a much better team than them and eliminated them in the first round of the 2020 playoffs.

Melo still left plenty of good things and while the Blazers have reportedly shown interest in bringing him back, the Knicks are now trying to reunite with the forward. According to Ian Begley of SNY, the Knicks could push for Melo once free agency opens. Melo spent 6 years in New York and now he could return to a team trying to compete in a stacked Eastern Conference.

The Knicks have been linked with Russell Westbrook in recent times and adding Melo could create for them given their style of play. If Melo can show that he can change his style of play and be that guy he was on the Blazers, the Knicks would benefit a lot from this move. He’s 36 and showed that still can be valuable in the league.

Tom Thibodeau is reportedly pushing for win-now moves for the Knicks and adding Melo as a role player could be good for them. Free agency is about to start and the Knicks are expected to make some moves to bolster their squad. Will Melo be one of those signings? We will find out very soon.
