NBA Rumors: Darren Collison Could Sign For The Lakers Or The Clippers

2 Min Read

A couple of months since he announced his retirement, Darren Collison is reportedly eyeing a return to the NBA with big teams keeping tabs on him. Collison is considering a comeback to the NBA, and he could do it the best way as two of the best teams in the league are keeping tabs on him.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, both the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers are interested in acquiring Collison’s services. Collison announced his retirement last summer, saying he wanted to focus on life after basketball.

As reported by Wojnarowski, he was trying to make up to $12 million per year on the free agent market before calling it quits.

“While I still love basketball, I know there is something more important which is my family and my faith. I am one of Jehova’s Witnesses and my faith means everything to me,” Collison wrote in June, in part. “I receive so much joy from volunteering to help others and participate in a worldwide ministry. The joy I feel is unmatched.”

Now, Woj himself has revealed Collison would sign with any of Los Angeles team.

“Story filed to ESPN: After a stunning retirement prior to free agency, veteran guard Darren Collison is considering a February return to the NBA – with the Lakers and Clippers emerging as his two preferred destinations,” he said.

Collison, who was selected by the New Orleans Hornets in the first round of the 2009 draft, played his last two seasons in the association with the Indiana Pacers. He averaged 11.2 points and six assists in more than 28 minutes per game, starting in every appearance he made last season.

He’s played for the Pacers, Clippers, Dallas Mavericks Sacramento Kings throughout his 10-year career.

Whichever team decides to sign him, would get a very valuable asset, and he would land in a contender.
