NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant’s Manager, Rich Kleiman, Could Become Knicks Next President

2 Min Read

The New York Knicks were willing to move heaven and earth to sign Kevin Durant this past summer. And, despite reports claiming they never wanted him, there was an undoubted sting when he chose the Nets instead.

So if you can’t sign Kevin Durant, what do you do? The next best thing: hire his agent.

Knicks fans rejoiced when they learned the news that team President Steve Mills was fired by James Dolan. Early reports have hinted that he has his eye son Masai Ujiri as a potential candidate, but Durant’s manager Rich Kleiman is also in the race, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

With owner James Dolan looking at making various agents as potential presidential candidates, don’t sleep on Kevin Durant’s man, Rich Kleiman, according to NBA sources.

Kleiman, a native New Yorker, has always desired to run the Knicks. Kleiman was a force in having Durant at least consider the Knicks last year. The scuttlebutt was Durant would join the Knicks and Kleiman would take on a prominent front-office role. That possibility slammed shut when Durant chose the Nets, along with Kyrie Irving.

The Knicks have been in a bad way for most of the modern basketball era, mostly due to poor decision-making and ill-advised moves by the front office. With someone new running the show, they might actually begin to turn things around.

Whether or not Klieman is the guy to do it, though, is something we’ll have to wait and see.
