NBA Rumors: Knicks Have Had Exploratory Trade Talks With Lakers For Kyle Kuzma

2 Min Read

It’s been just hours since New York Knicks fired their President, Steve Mills. With him gone, it seems the organization is prepared to make some serious moves.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Knickerbockers have inquired about Laker’s young forward, Kyle Kuzma.

It’s no secret that Kuzma has struggled to find his footing in L.A. this year. After a rough campaign, his name has been dangled in trade rumors as early as December.

Whether or not the Lakers are serious about trading him is still unknown. They are first in the West and show no immediate need for a change. But for the right pieces, it seems far-fetched to think they wouldn’t consider a deal.

The Knicks’ best asset remains Marcus Morris, who would be an ideal fit in L.A. He’s got size, shooting, and rebounding abilities. Couple him and a guy like Reggie Bullock, and it might be enough to get the conversation started.

This season, Kuzma is averaging 13 points and 4.2 rebounds on 43% shooting. It’s hard to tell what he’d be able to do in New York, but in an environment where he is the top option, he may very well thrive.
