NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Clippers Reportedly Have “Something Special Up Their Sleeves”

The Los Angeles Clippers pulled off a great move when they signed Serge Ibaka to a two-year. The Congolese-Spanish player was a coveted free agent, as teams like the Brooklyn Nets were trying to land him. Well, the Clippers earned a great signing in Ibaka, who will reunite with Kawhi Leonard in Los Angeles.

Now, that wasn’t the only void to fill for the Clips, who lost Montrezl Harrell to crosstown rivals Los Angeles Lakers. Ibaka is certainly a great addition for them, but this is not it for Tyronn Lue and co. However, according to the Los Angeles Times’ Dan Woike, people around the league are convinced the Clippers have something ready to surprise everybody this offseason.

“It’s left people to guess,” Woike wrote. “The Clippers need a point guard, defensive help in the frontcourt, and more leadership. So far, they’ve added shooting and underrated playmaking in Luke Kennard and brought back Marcus Morris, but there are still a lot of boxes left unchecked.

“If you ask around the NBA, people expect the Clippers to have something special up their sleeves.”

The free agency continues and they could still sign a good player or send an appealing package to land another star. They were linked with Rajon Rondo at some point but the point guard is now part of the Atlanta Hawks. They need more leadership and playmaking, which should be their focus from now on. Derrick Rose has been another name mentioned for the Clippers but nothing is certain right now.

They know they need to demonstrate this season after their disappointing 2019/20 season, where they collapsed against the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs, blowing a 3-1 lead in the bubble.
